Name/Title: Thea Serrano, Demand Generation Content Specialist
Home office: Laguna, Philippines
Family and pets: I have my parents and two brothers – one is a chef, now working at the front desk of a top hotel in Dubai, and the other is studying to be a physical therapist. We have a big dog named Luna and a small one named Herbie (after the movie!).
Start date at Thrive: August 10, 2020.
How did you get started with content writing?
I was just your average college kid looking for a way to earn on the side, and writing was always a skill I was confident in.
What do you love about working for Thrive so far?
I love how we’re surrounded by supportive and appreciative people, and how each of us feels we play a valuable role in the impact Thrive creates.
When you’re not at work, how do you spend your time?
I love planning trips and visiting new places. On most days, I’m engrossed in anything to do with Korean pop culture (my favorite country so far!).
If you could turn anything into an Olympic sport, what would you have a good chance of winning a gold medal for? Event planning!
What would be your karaoke go-to song and what setting would we likely find you singing it in?
“Super Bass” by Nicki Minaj in a vacation house somewhere with my best friends.
If you could be any character from any book or movie, who would you be?
Black Widow for sure!
Where did you grow up and what is special about that place?
I grew up in Manila, but my parents made it a point to take us all around the Philippines. The beaches and islands here are really something!
If you were in a room with three billionaires, what would you ask them and why?
I’d ask them to choose one thing they’d trade 99 percent of their wealth for. I would love to get that insight on what really matters in life for people who materially have everything.
If you could invite three people to dinner (dead or alive), who would be at the table and why?
Michelle Obama, Jacinda Ardern and Greta Thunberg. I’m in awe of these powerful female figures, and especially their youth empowerment advocacies.
